Installation Help
Install smarter access with clean control.
Lockora installation guidance is built for modern entry upgrades: fingerprint smart locks, keypad locks, app-controlled access, video-ready door locks, and secure smart-lock accessories. Use this page to prepare your door, understand the installation flow, and know when to contact Lockora support.
Check door thickness, latch position, and backset before installation.
Mount the exterior keypad or fingerprint panel with steady alignment.
Connect the interior module, battery compartment, and lock cable carefully.
Test mechanical entry, digital unlock, and app access before daily use.
Before You Start
A precise setup begins before the first screw.
Smart locks depend on door alignment, clean latch movement, and stable power. These checks help reduce friction, prevent misalignment, and make the final access setup feel polished from day one.
Prepare the door surface
Remove the existing lock carefully, clean the mounting area, and keep all screws organized before positioning the new smart lock.
- Keep the door open during setup.
- Do not force the latch into place.
- Confirm the deadbolt slides smoothly.
Check the included parts
Match the exterior panel, interior module, mounting plate, latch, strike plate, screws, keys, and battery cover before assembly.
- Review the model-specific guide first.
- Separate long and short screws.
- Inspect cables before connecting.
Plan the access setup
Decide which unlock methods you want active first, such as fingerprint, keypad code, card access, temporary code, or app control.
- Create admin access before sharing codes.
- Test backup keys if included.
- Keep temporary codes limited and intentional.
Door Fit Check
Confirm the lock can move freely before digital pairing.
A smart lock should never compensate for a tight door, warped frame, or misaligned strike plate. Smooth mechanical movement is the foundation for reliable fingerprint, keypad, app, and remote temporary-code access.
- Close the door and confirm the bolt enters the strike plate without rubbing.
- Measure backset and door thickness according to the lock model instructions.
- Make sure the interior module has enough clearance from trim, glass, or handles.
- For outdoor doors, confirm the selected smart lock is designed for exterior use.
Installation Flow
From old hardware to secure smart access.
Follow the model-specific manual included with your Lockora product. This overview explains the typical smart-lock installation sequence for a clean, controlled setup.
Remove existing lock
Keep the door open, remove old interior and exterior hardware, then clear the latch area without damaging the door face.
Install latch and plate
Set the latch direction, secure it evenly, and verify the bolt extends and retracts with no scraping or resistance.
Mount smart panels
Place the exterior smart lock panel first, route the cable cleanly, then secure the mounting plate and interior module.
Power and calibrate
Add batteries, run the lock direction or calibration process, and test bolt movement before programming users.
Program unlock methods
Set admin access, add fingerprints or codes, pair app control if supported, and test every access method twice.
Troubleshooting
Small adjustments can restore a clean lock feel.
If a lock feels tight, sounds strained, or will not calibrate, pause before forcing the hardware. Most setup issues trace back to door alignment, cable position, battery placement, or strike-plate clearance.
The strike plate may be slightly misaligned, or the door may shift when closed. Confirm the bolt enters the strike opening cleanly without rubbing. Adjust the strike plate before relying on digital calibration.
Check battery orientation, confirm the cable connection is seated correctly, and inspect whether the interior module is pinching the cable. Then restart the setup sequence according to your model guide.
Use a model designed for exterior conditions. Confirm waterproof or outdoor suitability before installation, and make sure the door area allows proper panel sealing and battery access.
Contact Lockora if your door measurements do not match the product guide, if the cable appears damaged, if calibration fails repeatedly, or if you need help choosing the right lock for a home, apartment, office, or rental space.
